The very unique set of Semitic alphabetical characters is an aspect of Islamic art that has been that has emerged together with the religion of Islam and the Arabic language.

The Arabic calligraphy lettering’s are affiliated with the well know geometric Islamic art or (arabesque) which are on the walls and ceilings of mosques ( Islamic prayer houses ).

Current modern-day artists within the Islamic world refer to the historical heritage of Arabic calligraphy lettering’s to create calligraphic inscriptions or abstractions today.

In brief, the Arabic alphabet script was created in a relatively short span of time. The Arabic letterings and scripts has now become a widely used alphabet as of today, its the second most used alphabet just after the Roman alphabet.

During the early days, nomadic Arabs successfully understood the strength and beauty of writings and words. An example of this would be poetry which was a part of everyday daily life. Arabs have taken much delight and fascination in language and this is clearly prominent is modern day Arabic literature and calligraphy.

The Arabic lettering’s is originally derived from the Aramaic Nabataean alphabet.
This set of special alphabet consists of a script of 28 letters. These letters are derived from 17 unique forms which are distinguished from each other by a dot or several dots which are added below or above the Arabic.
